Albion College is a private liberal arts college located in Albion, which is a city in Calhoun County, in the US state of Michigan, with over 9000 people, living within its limits, according to the 2000 census.
The college was established in 1835 and was `born` from the merger between the Wesleyan Seminary and Female College at Albion (February 25, 1861). It currently offers its students 25 academic majors leading to Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees, including numerous concentrations, academic institutes, and special programs, as well as pre-professional programs in engineering, medicine, and law.
The athletic teams at Albion College are known as the Britons and they field 18 intercollegiate teams, of which nine are for men and nine for women. They compete in NCAA Division III, and their distinctive colors are purple and gold.
